Inspired by the stunning cosmetic treatments received by his family, 70-year-old patient Mr. G approached our dental clinic. He expressed concerns about the discolouration, wear, decay and unevenness of his front teeth.
During the consultation, he asked for a quick and long lasting solution without resorting to orthodontic treatment. In response to his specific needs and to enhance the aesthetics of his smile, our team integrated a same-day approach using CEREC dental veneers.
Objective
The primary goal was to enhance Mr. G’s smile by providing a solution with a fast turnaround time. CEREC veneers were chosen for their efficiency, precision and natural-looking results. This option ensured Mr. G could enjoy a rejuvenated and aesthetically pleasing smile in the shortest time possible.
What we did
1. Case presentation
Mr. G’s initial oral condition displayed pronounced discolouration, significant wear, decay and noticeable irregularities in the upper front teeth. These factors contributed to a diminished aesthetic appeal and compromised functionality.
2. Treatment plan
In response to Mr. G’s desire for an enhanced smile and improved tooth colour, we developed a personalised treatment plan addressing his main concerns. Mr. G actively participated in the planning and design phase. He collaborated closely with our team to ensure his vision for a brighter and more vibrant smile was fully integrated into the treatment plan.
3. Shade selection
Prior to designing the veneers, we conducted shade selection to choose the appropriate colour that matched and enhanced Mr. G’s facial features and smile.
4. Tooth preparation
We carefully removed a minimal amount of enamel from the surfaces of the upper front teeth designated for veneers. This tooth preparation ensured a proper fit for the veneers and facilitated optimal bonding.
5. Scanning
In order to create a precise 3D model of Mr. G’s teeth, we used a CEREC intraoral scanner. This tool eliminated the need for traditional putty impressions and ensured accurate digital data for the design process.
6. Designing
Utilising CEREC modelling software, we digitally designed the custom CEREC dental veneers. This step allowed for meticulous planning, considering Mr. G’s unique dental anatomy and desired aesthetic outcomes.
7. Milling
We then transferred the digital design to the milling machine, which milled the veneers from high-quality ceramic materials. This automated process maintained precision and consistency, producing veneers that perfectly matched the digital design.
8. Cleaning
After milling, we carefully cleaned the veneers to remove any residue or impurities. This step ensured the final restorations were free from imperfections and ready for the next stage of the process.
9. Staining & glazing
We customise the colour of the veneers according to the patient’s natural enamel. To add depth and natural variation, we applied colour-enhancing staining and glazing techniques to the veneers. This step contributed to achieving a lifelike appearance and enhanced the overall aesthetics of the restorations.
10. Sintering
The veneers were subjected to a high-temperature sintering furnace, to strengthen and finalise their structure. This step ensured the durability and longevity of the restorations.
11. Polishing
After sintering, the veneers undergo a polishing process. Polishing is done to achieve a smooth and natural appearance, enhancing the aesthetics of the restorations.
12. Placement
In the final stage, the custom CEREC veneers were carefully bonded to Mr. G’s prepared teeth. We ensured a precise fit and made some adjustments to guarantee optimal comfort and aesthetics.
The combination of digital workflow, artistry and meticulous attention to detail throughout this procedure contributed to the successful smile transformation of Mr. G with CEREC dental veneers.
What was the end result
After a streamlined veneer session in a single day, Mr. G walked out with a remarkable transformation of his front teeth. The CEREC veneers efficiently corrected discolouration, restored worn surfaces and achieved a harmonious, even appearance.
Following the procedure, Mr. G reported a significant improvement in the aesthetic and functional aspects of his smile. Additionally, he experienced the immediate gratification of leaving with his new smile on the same day.
